Freemasonry in the Community

The Province of Hampshire & IOW now has an Exhibition Trailer which will be seen this summer (2010) at many of the Shows in the County. It has recently had its first, and very successful, outing at the three days of the New Forest Show at Brockenhurst.

This Exhibition Trailer will take the message of ‘Freemasonry in the Community’ to the public, so
that the public are better informed and have a greater understanding of the Craft.

Getting Ready for a new year - 2010/11

It is a great joy to welcome new members and the October 2009 regular meeting was no exception.  After the completion of a third degree (to become a Master Mason) the lodge was 'called off' for tea and then resumed to initiate new Bros Richard Scott-Copeland - a self-employed Professional Organist - and John Robert King, a part-time student at The University of Southampton.  Article is still under construction.

Freemasonry: A Young Brother's Perspective

AS I STOOD AT THE DOOR OF THE LODGE, dressed in a somewhat peculiar manner, I began to wonder what I had let myself in for.  For most students, dressing like this on a Saturday night would signal their entry into the Rugby or Hockey teams.  I however, was preparing to take a much bigger step, my initiation into a society steeped in history and surrounded by rumours.

University Lodges

Southampton University Lodge became the fifteenth to join the Grand Lodge Universities Scheme. Less than half a percent of Freemasons in this country are under the age of 25 (the average age is 57) and thousands of young people are missing out on something they would find enjoyable and fulfilling.
