Southampton University Lodge became, in June 2008, the fifteenth recognised lodge within the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) University Scheme. Also in June 2008 this website was officially approved by UGLE, confirmation of which may be seen on the home page with our unique 'Charter Mark' and number of recognition.
We continue to initiate into Freemasonry/welcome new members students and staff of Southampton University and other men living in the Southampton area. You must be at least 18 years of age to join. We especially extend a welcome to members of other University Lodges, under the 'Receptor Lodge' Scheme, living in the Southampton area. Please contact the Lodge Secretary for further details by clicking on "Contact Us" above.

Where we meet - Masonic Centre, Albion Place, Southampton Albion Place, SO14 2DD
(also known as '40 steps' this being the traditional number of steps from the old city down to the bottom of the city walls where ships once moored)
Before contacting us you may find it useful to do some background reading. We would recommend the following web sites:
Please note that the United Grand Lodge of England is an organisation for men. If you are a woman interested in Freemasonry you should get in touch with one of the two English Grand Lodges for lady Freemasons:
Finally we emphasise that if you are not connected with a university, but instead like the sort of Lodge we appear to be, then also please send an enquiry to the Lodge Secretary through "Contact Us" above . We have several members who neither went to the University of Southampton nor any other university.
